M.A. in Music from Kannur University and B.A. from Sree Swathi Thirunal College, University of Kerala, guiding students from Sarali Varisai through Manodharma, with voice culture, shruthi alignment and stage readiness as her three pillars.
Teaching Philosophy
Syamili's classes start where the student is. Some learners arrive with natural Bhavam (expression) but lack Thalam (rhythmic discipline). Others know the Swaras but struggle with vocal projection. The work is to align all of these, pitch, rhythm, breath, and meaning, so the singer becomes whole.
Lessons move at the student's pace through the Kairali progression, from Sarali Varisai and Janta Varisai at Foundation, through Geethams and Swarajathis, into Varnams and Kritis, and finally into Manodharma and concert performance. Beginners welcome from age four; adults welcome at any starting point.
Three pillars of training
Foundational varisai through advanced kritis of the Trinity (Tyagaraja, Dikshitar, Syama Sastri). Manodharma improvisation, kalpana swaras, niraval, for serious students aiming at concert work.
Posture, mizrab technique, basic alankaras through gamaka rendering on the strings. Particularly suited to students who already know vocal Carnatic and want to deepen their understanding of raga structure on an instrument.
For school competitions, weddings, temple programmes, cultural festivals, TV auditions, and reality shows. Includes microphone handling, audience engagement, lyrical clarity, and stage presence.
