Syamili's M.A. in Music (Kannur University) and B.A. in Music (Sree Swathi Thirunal, University of Kerala) put her in a small minority of UAE Carnatic teachers with formal university credentials in the discipline.

Voice culture as a separate discipline

Most Carnatic teachers in the diaspora teach kritis. Syamili teaches the voice itself, breath control, range expansion, tonal stability, so the kriti has somewhere to live.

Multilingual and multi-stage ready

She teaches across Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and English, and prepares students for school competitions, devotional programmes and televised reality shows alike.
