Drawing, painting and visual arts, what serious training looks like

Visual arts training is the structured development of two related skills, the eye that sees, and the hand that records. Drawing is the foundation; painting, mixed media and design build on top of it.

How drawing is taught

Beginning students learn pencil work, line, value, proportion, perspective, light and shadow. The exercises feel basic but they are what every later medium depends on. A drawing weakness shows up in every painting; a drawing strength saves every painting.

How painting progresses

Watercolour first (forces decision-making, you cannot un-paint), then acrylic (forgiving, modern, fast), then oil (slow, traditional, layered). Colour theory, brush technique, composition and finishing are taught as the student moves through mediums.

Crafts, design and stage work

Kids' classes include crafts and mixed-media work that build manual skill and creative confidence. Senior students contribute to stage design, sets and backdrops for Sargolsavam, turning classroom skill into real production work.
